Through adversity and eventual prosperity, he remained true to himself, ethical, honorable, and disciplined.
Totally devoted to his wife Yi-Yin, and setting high expectations for his daughter Wanda and son Golden, he watched society evolve, but his values never wavered.
From a struggling graduate student with a wife and two young children, to a successful manager of international exploration at Mobil Oil Corporation, later ExxonMobil, he maintained simple tastes, wanted a simple life, and was most content anytime he was with Yi-Yin.
He lived frugally, but as a lasting memorial, he left a generous endowment to Rice University in gratitude for the PhD he received that later propelled his career at Mobil to a position as their first Asian manager.
As an industrious and successful immigrant, he embodied the American Dream, and his family is proud of his legacy.
