Pravinaben Bhagubhai Vakil, 96, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 24th, 2017 following a brief illness. She is with her beloved son, Deepak Vakil. She leaves behind her two sons, Kamlesh and Manoj Vakil, and their families, including, Deepak's family.
She was born and raised in Cambay, India; she was raised in a loving and comfortable home along with her siblings. She married Bhagubhai Vakil and moved to Bombay where she resided for many years. There, she raised her three boys, in a small, confined flat. Despite financial hardships and hurdles, Mrs. Pravinaben Vakil knew the importance of education and the value of it. She dedicated her life to raising her three sons and educating them. She provided a consistent stable home life for her husband and children, which ensured their future successes. Mrs. Pravinaben Vakil also supported and helped her other family members, unified her husband's family and expanded relations with them. Her husband lost heavily in 1962 in business. Despite the situation, she again with firm determination took charge and made sure that family keeps going by making sure food was on the table, the house was safe and the children continue their education. As a result, of her love and dedication towards her children, her oldest son Kamlesh became a Chemical Engineer, her second son Dipak became a Microbiologist and they were fortunate to go to the USA. Her third son, Manoj became a doctor.
Pravinaben Vakil left Bombay and permanently settled in USA to be with her sons and their families. She traveled to India back and forth as long as she could. Over time, she had forged new friends and relationships in Houston. She was a devoted Hindu; and followed Hindu traditions and customs. Her past time and activities primarily were religious duties, such as praying, reading holy scriptures, fasting, visiting temples, and observing spiritual days. For many years, she enjoyed participating weekly in the Indian Senior Citizens group. She enjoyed their outings and activities. By far her favorite past time was talking with her friends and family on the phone every day, particularly, with her son, Deepak.
She was blessed with a long, happy, healthy, and comfortable life. She was loved and cared for by her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren. She also had the good fortune to be able to spend time with her great grandchildren and likewise for them being able to spend time with her.
Pravinaben Vakil was a very determined woman who always achieved what she desired. She was persistent in her goals and never gave up. At age of 70, she pursued and learned how to run an IPAD to follow religious performances. She enjoyed trying different cuisines, which changed over with time. She loved chocolate, pizza, cheese and sweets. She also loved to dress well. She had an elephant memory. She knew all phone numbers consisting of 10digits, as well as everyone’s birthday and anniversaries. She was very wise in spending and to the last, she kept her account to second digit.
She had a healthy life until she succumbed to illness a few months ago; however, her illness was brief and she did not suffer for long. Knowing that she did not suffer for long, is the greatest joy to her family. She is now in heaven, with her beloved husband and son; and we the Vakil family want her to rest in peace eternally.
