

Princella Jewel Vogel passed Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Princella was born in McAllen, Texas, on October 13, to parents Leo Chester and Jewel Agnes Jenkins McNeal. She is survived by her children Darryl Eugene Edwards, Peter Olaf Vogel, Jr. and wife Amelia Vogel, and Anneliese Gisela McNeal Vogel and husband Colin Parrish; her six grandchildren, Geneva Esthers, Peter “Ollie” Vogel, III, Colin Parrish, II, Miles Parrish, Eleanor Vogel, and Harper Parrish; sisters Hermenia “Mary” Jenkins, and Lucy Love McNeal; and by her sister-in-law Merry Valdez and husband George Valdez; and Godchildren Gerald Hawkins and Larry Joseph.
Princella is preceded in death by her husband Peter Olaf Vogel, Sr., parents Leo Chester McNeal and Jewel Agnes McNeal; sisters-in-law Margaret Sides, Marilyn Benton, Lucy, and Loretta Vogel; brothers-in-law Henry Vogel, and Bill Vogel
Princella was a long-time employee of the Unites States Postal Service, where she began a life of activism, fighting for equal treatment in the workforce and becoming a co- founder of the Post Office Women for Equal Rights (POWER). She served as President of the Houston Area Local of the American Postal Workers Union and as the Southern Region Coordinator, a national officer of the American Postal Workers Union, where she negotiated union contracts that protected employee rights and safety.
Princella was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Her passion for family and the Christmas season will be remembered for years to come.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 19, from 5-8:00 P.M., 6PM Rosary. Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 10 A.M., and the burial will follow. The visitation services and burial will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
