May 25, 1945 – January 1, 2026
Dr. Que Do Tranvan, a respected physician and longtime member of the Houston community, passed away on January 1, 2026, after a life defined by service, faith, and family.
Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Dr. Tranvan graduated from Lycée Marie Curie (Class of 1963) and the Saigon Faculty of Medicine (Class of 1970). In 1975, just weeks before the fall of Saigon, she immigrated to the United States with her husband and family and settled in Houston, TX. After many years as a surgical assistant at Rosewood Medical Center, Que received her qualifications as a licensed Obstetrician and Gynecologist after finishing her residency at St. Joseph Hospital. Dr. Tranvan spent over 30 years in practice, serving the Houston community with compassion and dedication.
A devout Catholic, she was a regular attendee of Mass at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She found joy in cooking, tennis, and fashion, and her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandson.
Dr. Tranvan is survived by her daughter, NamPhuong Tranvan (Joel Straughen), and her grandson, Jude Straughen. She is also survived by her siblings: Đỗ Châu Huyền (Đức), Đỗ Châu Sang, Đỗ Châu Hoàng (Hương), and Đỗ Châu Huệ; as well as her husband’s children—Mary Christofferson (Scott), Joseph Tranvan (Jillian), and Emmanuelle Bullington (Michael)—and their families, all of whom she cared for deeply. She leaves behind extended family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents Đỗ văn Rỡ and Châu thị Son, her husband Dương Trầnvăn and siblings Đỗ Châu Ngọc, Đỗ Châu Trần, and Đỗ Châu Tuấn.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 7th at 4:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors in the Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024.
