Rachel Mae Turman, 83, returned to her heavenly home on June 11, 2016 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her eternal peace.
Rachel was born to the late Huffer Allen Dossett and Pauline Reynolds Dossett, in Sulphur Springs, TX on April 25, 1933. She was a devout Christian. Rachel was a member of Beaumont Place Baptist Church in Houston, TX where she served faithfully. In later years and up until her passing, she was a strong supporter of TBN Ministries. She resided on Homewood Lane for over 60 years, where there she made lifelong friends with neighbors Ira and Ruby Singleton and Ray and Betty Nickles.
Rachel was blessed with a loving family. From the very beginning, she gave her children and grandchildren to God, encouraging them to explore the beauty of the gospels and dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ.
Rachel was a true caregiver at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small or complex. She had deep compassion for any and all animals, especially those without a home. She had a very gentle soul, her love for serving God shined brightly through her relationships with friends and family. Everyone who knew her loved her. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, and will always have a very special place in their hearts.
Rachel is survived by her sisters Mary Walker and Sandra Soffer and her brother Richard Dossett. She is also survived by daughters Rhonda Perry (Anthony) and Lisa Joseph (Patrick); her grandchildren Traci Tucker (Robby), Dominique Dunlap DeMoss (Jonathan), Chucky Gooden, Torye Joseph and Joshua Perry and her greatgrandchildren Michael Shane Tucker and Journee Rachel DeMoss.
