

Rafik Aziz Gobran, 83, departed to be with the Lord on Friday, January 3, 2014. Rafik was born in Tanta, Egypt on November 13, 1930 to Aziz Gobran and Marie Abdelmalek. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Heba Gobran and his brother, Reda Gobran. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 52 years, Soad (Susu) Gobran; daughter, Amani Gobran; son, Ayman Gobran; daughter, Hala Schepmann; daughter-in-law, Maggy Gobran; son-in-law, Dennis Schepmann; grandchildren, Nadia, Laila, Jihan, and Mina; sister, Fifi Gobran; and brothers, Raouf Gobran and Ragaa Gobran.
A graduate of the University of Cairo, Rafik was a certified auditor and international accountant. R.G., as he was affectionately called by many, took great pride in establishing and running his daughter Amani’s medical practice.
Rafik had a welcoming, encouraging, joyful, and loving nature. He will be best remembered for his unshakeable faith, bright smile, generous spirit, and unwavering optimism.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ayman Gobran, Raouf Gobran, Sherif Gobran, Dennis Schepmann, Mina Schepmann, George Atkins, Basha Awad, Roushdy Bakhoum, Harold Erbs, Gerges Gad, Sammy Ghattas, Maged Mikhaeil, Morad Nashad, Zakaria Nessim, Magdy Saweris and Bubba Silberstein. The prayer service and wake will be held on Sunday, January 5th at 7:00 PM and the funeral service well be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at St. Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church, 7030 Lakeview Haven Drive, Houston, Texas. The burial will take place at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
