Rajnanda Pinjani Khatri, 72, passed away on August 2, 2018 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born in Shikarpur, India to Satramdas and Jasoda Pinjani. She was appropriately named Rajkumari, which means Princess. Her family moved to New Delhi when she was one year old, and she grew up to be a bright student and talented artist. She married Nandlal Khatri in 1963. In 1970, she moved to the United States and nurtured, empowered, and inspired her husband and three daughters. She supported her family through numerous moves across the country, always putting family first. While she celebrated her Indian culture and traditions and shared them with her children, she encouraged them to appreciate and adopt the best values and qualities of all cultures. While living in Tennessee, Raj owned and operated a successful hospitality business for ten years. She also enjoyed investing in stock and real estate markets, along with sewing the most beautiful and comfortable dresses, knitting soft, cozy blankets, and growing and tending to her vibrant plants. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her husband, Nandlal; her children, Deepa Khatri Lahoti and her husband, Anil Lahoti, Pooja Khatri and her husband, Neeraj Rao, Priya Khatri and her husband, Nitin Wadhwa; her grandchildren, Arjun Lahoti, Ishuma Lahoti, Akash Khatri-Rao, and Raina Wadhwa; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her brother, Parmanand Pinjani, and her sister, Sakhi Hemrajani.
Services will be held on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at Garden Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 am followed by Kirtan and Prasad at Gurdwara Sahib of Southwest Houston.
