Ramona Serrato Gonzalez

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ramona Serrato-González, who died on Friday, February 7, 2025, at age of 71. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ramona’s life was a testament to boundless love, unwavering support, and a compassionate spirit that touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in her family, and the countless cherished memories she leaves behind, from her nurturing heart to her witty sense of humor, her generous hospitality, and her unmatched ability to make everyone feel welcome.

Ramona was born on January 10, 1954, in the city of Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Luis Serrato Eguia and Lucina Estrada Serrato. As the youngest of ten siblings, she was deeply loved by her mother, father, and siblings. Known for her warmth and kindness, she had a unique way of making people feel at home, whether it was sharing a home-cooked meal, a kind word, or simply a welcoming smile.

A devout Jehovah’s Witness, Ramona found strength in her faith, always holding onto God’s promise of everlasting life. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandson, and beloved granddogs. Weekend gatherings with her children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson were filled with laughter, good food, and warmth, with her grilling fajitas, preparing fresh flour tortillas, and making her famous nachos. She had a remarkable green thumb, able to grow plants from a single leaf, and she spent many hours tending to her garden.

Besides spending time with her family, Ramona’s passions also included reading her Bible, sharing the gospel, cooking, solving crossword puzzles, and being with those she loved. She was an elegant lady of incredible resilience and strength, facing life’s challenges with a warrior’s spirit, fighting until her very last breath.

She is preceded in death by her father Luis Serrato Eguia, her mother Lucina Estrada Serrato, and 5 brothers and 3 sisters, and her beloved sons, Roberto Gonzalez, Jr. (Diana) and Luis Gonzalez. Ramona leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Roberto Gonzalez, Sr.; her children Esmeralda Golden (Shawn), Aime Kamaie (the late Danilo Kamaie), Eduardo Gonzalez, and Emma Tovar (Daniel); along with her grandchildren, great-grandson, and granddogs. She is also survived by her sister, Emma Hernandez and numerous nieces and nephews who gave her love, strength, and support.

Though she may no longer walk among us, her love and guidance will remain forever in our hearts. Ramona will be deeply missed, but we will carry her spirit with us always.

A visitation for Ramona will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral will occur Monday, February 17, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Brookside Memorial Park, at the same address.

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra amada madre, Ramona Serrato de González, quien partió el viernes 7 de febrero del 2025, a la edad de 71 años.

Devota hija, hermana, esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela, la vida de Ramona fue un testimonio de amor infinito, apoyo inquebrantable y un espíritu compasivo que tocó a todos los que la conocieron. Su legado vive en su familia y en los incontables recuerdos que deja atrás, desde su corazón lleno de amor hasta su agudo sentido del humor, su generosa hospitalidad y su inigualable capacidad de hacer que todos se sintieran bienvenidos.

Ramona nació el 10 de enero de 1954 en la ciudad de Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, México, hija de Luis Serrato Eguia y Lucina Estrada Serrato. Como la menor de diez hermanos, fue profundamente amada por sus padres y hermanos. Conocida por su calidez y amabilidad, tenía una manera única de hacer sentir a las personas como en casa, ya fuera compartiendo una comida casera, una palabra amable o simplemente una sonrisa acogedora.

Como devota Testigo de Jehová, Ramona encontró fortaleza en su fe, siempre aferrándose a la promesa de Dios de la vida eterna. Su mayor alegría era pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus nietos, su bisnieto y sus adorados perritos. Las reuniones de fin de semana con sus hijos, yernos, nietos y bisnieto estaban llenas de risas, buena comida y calidez, con ella asando fajitas, preparando tortillas de harina frescas y haciendo sus famosos nachos. Tenía un don especial para la jardinería, capaz de hacer crecer plantas a partir de una sola hoja, y pasaba muchas horas cuidando su jardín.

Además de disfrutar el tiempo con su familia, Ramona también sentía pasión por leer la Biblia, compartir el evangelio, cocinar, resolver crucigramas y estar con sus seres queridos. Fue una mujer elegante de increíble resiliencia y fortaleza, enfrentando los desafíos de la vida con el espíritu de una guerrera, luchando hasta su último aliento.

Le preceden en la muerte sus amados hijos, Roberto González Jr. (Diana) y Luis González. Ramona deja atrás a su amado esposo de 51 años, Roberto González Sr.; sus hijos Esmeralda Golden (Shawn), Aime Kamaie (el fallecido Danilo Kamaie), Eduardo González y Emma Tovar (Daniel); junto con sus nietos, bisnieto y perritos. También le sobrevive su hermana, Emma Hernández, y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas que le brindaron mucho amor.

Aunque ya no camine entre nosotros, su amor y cariño permanecerán por siempre en nuestros corazones. Ramona será profundamente extrañada, pero llevaremos su espíritu con nosotros siempre.
