Raquel Berbel Andrada

Raquel Berbel Andrada loved her huge family and friends. Her home was always open to all who needed shelter and comfort. In her earlier years, she loved cooking, fishing, gardening, and especially family gatherings. She devoted the remainder of her life to raising her great-great-grandsons, Julius and Xavier. They were like sons to her. They even nicknamed her Honey. In her final days, my mother prayed a sincere prayer of repentance. “Dear God, I confess I have sinned. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again. I invite Him into my heart to be my Savior and Lord. Amen". She was baptized and, a few days later, was called by the Lord. She is united with her loving family members in heaven. May she now rest in peace---my dear beloved mother. Psalm 23 was her, her mother’s, and her sister’s favorite prayer.

Raquel was preceded in death by her mother, Dolores Perez; her father, Antonio Berbel; her brother, Andrew Berbel; her sisters, Louisa Figuerora, Dolores Perez, and Rosemary Perez; her daughter, Sylvia Ann Andrada; and her grandson, Julian Coronado.

She is survived by her brother, John Berbel; her children, Patrica Ann Reyes, Eva and Jack Yabarra, Anna and Steve Hulsey, Melissa Andrada, Nannette and Milo Garcia, Raquel Valerio, Amador and Joann Valerio, and Priscilla and Manuel Andrada; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-great-grandchildren, and the love of her life, Jesus Figuerora.

It is understandably difficult to say goodbye to one's mother. I share in your sorrow at our mother's passing, yet I am grateful for the 85 years she was with us. It is unconscionable to disregard a mother's wishes regarding her health and the disposition of her ashes.
