Raymond Leon Belin, lovingly known to many as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on April 22, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on December 20, 1949, in Warren, Arkansas, and later made his home in Houston, Texas, where he built a life rooted in faith, service, and love.
Raymond graduated from Bradley County High School in Warren, Arkansas, in 1969. He went on to dedicate his life to both his career and his calling. He faithfully served as a Facility Manager with HISD, and more importantly, he answered the call to ministry. From deacon to minister to pastor, Raymond ultimately served as the beloved pastor of Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church. His voice, both in song and in preaching, carried power, conviction, and a deep love for God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maola Webb and Earnest Belin Sr.
He was united in love and marriage to his devoted wife, Verelyn Belin. Together, they built a family grounded in faith and unity. Raymond was a proud and loving father to Anthony Lenton; Brandice Belin; Brandon Belin (Kathleen Belin); Chantise Belin-Scott (Teddie Scott Sr.); Chamaiya Pearson-Belin; and Chequeta Belin-Benjamin. He was also a cherished brother to Earnest Belin.
His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Chelsea Lenton; Dasia Fransaw; Roxie Lenton (fiancé Christopher Black); Keja Belin; Brayden Belin; Braxton Belin; Akiyah Scott; Chyah Scott; Tiyah Scott; Khoriyah Scott; and Teddie Scott Jr. He was also blessed with a beautiful lineage of great-grandchildren: Jaycee, Deysean, Zakiya, Heavyn, Christopher Leon, Roxton, Xaila, Xiyra-Ray, Briyah, and Ma’Liyah.
Raymond also leaves behind loving in-laws Lynette Lister, Tyressa Lister, and Dorothy Reddix (Rick Reddix); nieces La’Kisha, Freddrea’, Chasity, Destinee, Akeria, Chynna, Robbyn, Cydney, and Brittney; nephews Niklaus, George, and Cassius; along with a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Raymond was known for his warm spirit and unforgettable personality. He was funny, patient, loving, and had a unique sense of humor that those closest to him truly understood. A God-fearing man, he lived his life as a reflection of his faith. He loved attending church, cooking meals for others, and working in the yard. He found joy in laughter, often enjoying the Lil Darrel character by Rickey Smiley, action movies, The Karate Kid, western shows, Smokey and the Bandit, and films starring Denzel Washington.
More than anything, Raymond will be remembered for how he made people feel. He had a rare gift—he made everyone feel like they were his favorite. He was kind, gentle, faithful, and always present for those who needed him. Whether through his preaching, singing, or simply his presence, he poured into others with love and sincerity.
