RETA JOYCE HARRISON-ADAMS was born November 12, 1956, in Houston, Texas. At the age of 66, she departed this life Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 12:43 P.M. in Spring, Texas. Even though she suffered through her illness in silence, her strong-willed yet loving heart left a beacon of light for her daughter, grandsons, and many others.
LOVED and known by most as “Reta Moon”, she was the third of eight children born to the late Isiah and Lozelle (Carroll) Harrison. Reta enjoyed cooking and a good cup of coffee every morning while listening in on the prayer line. She also enjoyed going to the country and spending time with extended family.
AFTER graduating from Forest Brook High School in 1977, she went on to study Nursing at Prairie View A&M University and later Criminal Justice.
SHE made it her life mission to care for the under served mentally ill, elderly and youth through her work with the Children Protective Services and later the Department of Corrections, retiring with over 20 years of service.
RETA’S three grandsons, who affectionately called her “Nana”, were her heart and joy. She was the perfect boy grandmother, as she didn’t mind wrestling with them or spending her Saturdays attending their basketball games. Time spent at Nana’s house was and will always be very special to her grandbabies.
LOVED ones who cleared the path for Reta are her parents, Isiah and Lozelle Harrison; husband, Terrence Adams; daughter, Tyneshia “Pooh” Harrison; and siblings, Curtis Harrison, Wanda Williams, and Isiah “Big Baby” Harrison, Jr.
LOVED ones who will miss Reta until they meet again are her daughter, Tonya Adams-Felder; son-in-law, whom she loved as if he were her own, Marco Felder, Sr.; grandsons, Marco Felder, Jr., Mario Felder, and Marsais Felder; and siblings, Freddrick Harrison, Joseph Harrison, Antionette Roberson, and David Harrison. Additionally, Reta leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends who she loved dearly.
A visitation for Reta will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. Committal services will be held immediately after services.
