

Our beloved Dad, Grandfather, Great-Uncle, and even better friends went to be with the Lord on August 22nd, at the age of 64. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Leroy Shafer, along with his brothers Leroy and James Shafer.
Rex Allen Shafer was born on October 3rd, 1959, in Gary Indiana to the union of Ann Lippincott and Leroy Shafer. He was of German and Irish descent and was the youngest of six siblings: Leroy, James, Paul, Shafer, and sisters Rose Hamilton and Debra Hanson.
Rex moved to Houston, TX, in his early 20's and met Anna Silva, at the age of 25 they went on to have three sons together: Leroy, Howard, and Jacob. He also considered Anna's oldest son Henry and youngest son Dennis as his own and helped her raise them. Rex was an amazing father and an even better grandfather. He worked for gGallery Furniture and K&P Interior Construction, during which time he began teaching his sons how to build and renovate homes.
Rex leaves behind to cherish his life, Anna Silva, sons Henry Silva, Leroy Shafer Sr. (Erica), Howard Shafer, Jacob Silva (Diana), and Dennis Silva. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isaiah Aguilar, Kailyn Silva, Anyah Shafer, and twins Logan Rex Shafer and Leroy Shafer Jr.; his brother Paul Shafer; nephews James Shafer Jr. and Paul Shafer.; his sisters Rose Hamilton and husband Curtis Hamilton Jr.; and Debra Hanson and husband DuWayne Hanson, as well as his nieces Petrina and Alina Hanson.
Rex will forever remain close in our hearts, and memories of him shall be passed down for generations. His greatest legacy lives on through his extraordinary sons. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
