Rhoda Plaisance Dore, 64, of Katy, Texas passed away peacefully after losing her courageous battle with cancer on May 13, 2018. Rhoda lived each moment for her family and was their biggest advocate and today is a much darker day without her. Rhoda was the middle child of Lawrence and Vivian Plaisance, both deceased. She was born in Raceland, Louisiana on September 4, 1953 and grew up in various cities in Mississippi and Louisiana following her father’s oil patch career. They eventually settled in Lafayette, Louisiana where she attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana and received her teaching degree. It was there that she met Paul A. Dore, the love of her life for over 45 years. She and Paul married in Lafayette and had one daughter, Alexandra (married to John Derek Fulton), who with her granddaughter Emerson Leigh, all survive her. She is also survived by her sister, Sheila Curry, and brother, Craig Plaisance (married to Janice), along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
The best of times for Rhoda were spent with family and friends. Her love of family, friends, travel, and her needlepoint hobby will always be remembered. Her favorite titles of all were being Mom to Alex and Roro to her sweet granddaughter, Emmy.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with a Rosary recital at 7:00 pm, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Memorial Oaks Chapel on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, with Interment following service.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Ken Baum, Kenneth Blanchette, Karl “Bubba” Guidry, Michael Jackson, Carl Richard, and Randall Skiff.
