Rhonda Elizabeth Ellis, 76, of San Marcos, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. Rhonda was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 3, 1944 to parents Cora Louise Phillips Coggins and Woodrow Wilson Perry.
Rhonda graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas. She was the captain of the Drum and Bugle of Carlton Cadettes. She received both an outstanding Business Student Award and Top Student in the National Honor Society. After completing high school, Rhonda married Dick Ellis and together they had two children.
Rhonda worked for her parent’s business – Perry Photos of Houston. She later moved to San Marcos in 1972 where she and Dick started Ellis Motor Company Car Dealership and sold the business in 1984. Together they owned four Golden Fried Chicken fast food restaurants for several years then Rhonda later started Network Business Service, Inc. as an accountant serving over 50 small businesses and non-profits in San Marcos. She later retired and sold her business. She continued as a full-time prayer warrior praying for anyone in need. Her favorite roles in life were Mother and Gammo.
Some of Rhonda’s passions included playing tennis and bridge. She was an avid tennis player for years through Quail Creek Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge in two different groups for almost 50 years. She was a member of several churches but enjoyed praising the Lord at Sozo Church of San Marcos, who is currently meeting at the San Marcos Baptist Academy. She played pickle ball and enjoyed all the dance and exercise classes for Silver Sneakers. She was on the board at the Pregnancy Center called TruChoice. She has been on many prayer teams and leaves a legacy of serving Christ.
She loves her two son-in-law’s and always so thankful for all the help with chores they would do selflessly. Her most prized possessions were her relationships with her two daughters, Tonya and Debbie, and her four grandchildren, Danielle, Chase, Holly and Heidi. Each were very special in their own way. She loved working puzzles and especially playing games with her family when we would get together. She prayed for us daily and celebrated every accomplishment we experienced. We are blessed!
Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Perry, Cora Louise Perry; brothers, Waymon Perry and Robert Perry.
Left to Cherish her memory are daughters, Tonya Merritt and husband Bill, Debbie Hudspeth and husband Chad; grandchildren, Danielle Merritt, Chase Merritt, Holly Hudspeth, Heidi Hudspeth and a host of other family and friends also survive.
