Ricardo was born in Houston and grew up in Fifth Ward where he attended Betsy Ross Elementary, Fleming Middle, and graduated from Jeff Davis High School. He later married his high school sweetheart Rosa Garcia in 1977 where they built a life in Houston having and raising four children. He spent the bulk of his career in the auto paint and body which was hard work but suited him well. Later in life he served the city of Houston by working in the wastewater department.
In 2020, because of the COVID pandemic he retired to care for his grandchildren, helping them with their online school work and studies. He was a mentor for his grandchildren and he wanted to see them succeed just as with his children. His generosity was well noted throughout his life, he would do his best to help anyone within reason.
Towards the end of his life, health issues began to take hold. His health declined and he began to lose energy. Despite all the challenges he faced, he always had an upbeat attitude towards life. Holidays were special to him, as all of the family would be over to visit.
Ricardo is predeceased by his parents Luis R. Madrigal and Maria Theresa Delgado, brother Francisco and sister Lucille.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosa, children Angelica Lay (Andrew), Diana, Luis (Philip), and Miguel. He is also survived by his siblings Juan (Georgina), Luis (Anita), Rosario Sanchez (Adalberto), Javier, and Hector. His legacy is his large family of brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren! Our apologies if anyone was not listed, our family is very large!
