Born to Sylvestre and Juanita Alfaro on November 15, 1945. Richard was a native Houstonian, where he met and married the love of his life, Rosie Lozano. They celebrated 61 years of marriage this past October. Richard retired from the City of Houston in October 2000 after 30 years of service.
Richard had the special talent of remaining friends with people for decades. He was generous and kind with an unforgettable smile and frequently laughed at his own jokes. He was an avid H-Town sports fan and supported all activities his children and grandchildren were involved in. Richard Alfaro lived in the same house, attended the same church, and held the same job for several years. In short, the Alfaro family followed a path of traditional family unity and connection to their community which isn’t always present in today’s culture. His hobbies included watching local sports, gardening, and spending time with family.
Richard was preceded in death by his son Richard Jr., his father, Sylvester, his mother, Juanita, and his siblings. Richard is survived by his wife, Rosie; children Deborah Ann Montoya (Pablo), Sandra Jo Alfaro (Tony), and Yvette Marie Fuentes (Lorenzo); grandchildren, Amanda, Pablo Jr. Michael, Antonio, Richard, Lorenzo, Anthony, and Mendolyn, along with 10 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
