Richard was born on October 21, 1947 in New York, New York to Emerson and Sigrid (Christensen) Low. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina. Go Tar Heels! He practiced medicine for over 40 years in Houston, Texas. He loved his pediatric practice and found great pride in seeing generations of families. On June 22, 1976 he married Susan Low. They raised William, Christensen, Jeanie, and Elizabeth. He found great peace knowing that Karen, Grace, Stephanie, and Duncan willfully joined and enhanced the family. Pop Pop thought the world of and loved spending time with his eight grandchildren Miles, Ariana, Jessie, Emersen, Kaelyn, Daniel, Josiah, and Everen. He and his nephew Garrett Byerly were kindred spirits. He is survived by his siblings Sigrid, Tony, and Fred Low.
Richard had a passion for family, travel, and helping people. He was known for his strong intuition, humorous bedside manner, and huge heart. He loved to play, be silly, and brought magic to those he encountered. He loved spending time with family, going on adventures, and enjoying life. He was always ready for a good time and supporting the ones he loved.
He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
A wake will be held Friday April 23rd from 5-8pm and Funeral Service will be Saturday April 24th at 3pm at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery at 13001 Katy Fwy Houston, TX 77079.
