

Richard had battled cancer for the past two years while living with the aftermath of a stroke, which occurred five years ago. He was loved & admired by family & friends for the courage & strength with which he faced the challenges of these ailments and the generosity he exhibited throughout his life.
Born in Houston on the 7th of December 1960, he was a son of Dorothy & Walter McCaine.
After graduating Memorial High School, Class of 1979, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to Houston to work at Alloy Carbide Company, where he became the Chief Executive Officer.
Through the years, Richard helped to design & implement the continual transformation of Alloy Carbide into the state-of-the-art, petroleum & industrial, extreme environment, tools manufacturing operation that it is today.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman who loved duck hunting, surfing, mountain biking and disc golf, which brought him enjoyment & satisfaction in his later years. Richard loved to travel, which in recent years took him to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Spain, & Oregon. He was a huge fan of Formula 1 racing & Longhorn football.
Richard was well known for his generous spirit, his in-depth knowledge of music from the Jazz & rock-n-roll eras to the present, his wonderful culinary skills, his unfailing sense of direction, his love of the Simpsons, & his incessant care for his friends & family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Johnson McCaine.
In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his two sisters, Martha McCaine and her husband John Jinishian, and their two daughters, Zoe Jinishian and Erin Jinishian of Atherton, California, and Mary McCaine and her husband Michael Brockmyre of Sugar Land; his brother & sister-in-law, Teres & James McCaine of Austin; and a close circle of dear friends and co-workers.
The family wishes to thank Karen Greenwalt, Mary Lomax, Dr. William William and all those who have cared for Richard during these last years. You were a blessing to Richard and our family!
A memorial service celebrating his life is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 25th of March, in the Sanctuary of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston, where Dr. Tom Pace, Senior Pastor, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during an informal reception in the adjacent Hines Baker Room.
In accordance with his wishes, Richard will be cremated and scattered in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii at a later date.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Mr. McCaine's name be directed to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
