Richard Ortega

He met Hilaria Ortega in Houston, Texas and married on September 29, 1982. Richard worked as an Instrument Tech at Maxwell House for 44 years. He was a man of faith, who loved his family dearly, and was always wanting to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Amado Ortega; mother, Inez Ortega; daughters, Patricia Ortega, Lisa Ortega, and Jennifer Ortega; sons, Sammie Torrez, and Richard Devora Jr.; grandson, Ray Hernandez; and brother, Raymond Ortega.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hilaria Ortega; daughters, Samantha Ortega, Shirley Devora, and Geanine Valdez; son, Richard Ortega; 19 grandkids; 18 great grandkids; brother, Robert Ortega; and sister, Virginia Hughes.

Serving as pallbearers are Rolando Valdez Jr., Richard Valdez, Sammie Torrez, Manuel Tristan, Joshua Tristan, Rolando Valdez III, and Ethan Yohner.

A visitation for Richard will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 10, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Monday, February 10, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
