Rick, the eldest of three children, was born in Houston, Texas to Harold and Lucy Parker, on August 30, 1952. He attended Charlotte B. Allen Elementary, Hamilton Jr. High School and graduated from Reagan High School in 1970, where he lettered in football and track. He was also a proud member of the Variety Boys Club for many years where he played on a great football team in 1963. During that time, he earned the affectionate nickname, “Red Dog.”
Following high school, Rick married his high school sweetheart, Pamella Wiggins, on October 26, 1971. Rick also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1971 to 1974. After his honorable discharge from the service, Rick went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 2002. Following his career with the phone company, Rick graduated from North Harris College in 2006, where he received his Paralegal degree. In 2009, Rick entered his second career as a school bus driver for Conroe ISD and retired in 2017. Rick cherished his time as a school bus driver, a sentiment reflected in the heartfelt letters and cards he would often receive from students who valued his kindness.
Rick was a Christian man. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior while serving in the Marine Corps in November 1972. Rick always emphasized that the most notable events in his earthly life were first and foremost his salvation, and the births of his children and grandchildren.
Rick dedicated numerous years to Berean Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and contributed to various ministries. His passion for teaching was evident, and his time spent as a Sunday school teacher for 2nd and 6th graders remained among his most cherished memories.
Rick had a variety of hobbies which included working difficult math problems, classic horror movies, thrill rides, crossword puzzles and working in the yard. Rick’s quirky sense of humor left a permanent mark on those who crossed his path. His wit was like a hidden treasure—a sudden twist in conversation that would catch you off guard and send laughter throughout the room.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucy Parker, brother, Kerry, and his sister, Gail.
After 52 years of marriage, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Pam Parker. Rick’s children—his son Ricky Parker and daughters Brandie Smith (married to Jason) and Lindsay Partlow (married to Robert). Additionally, Rick’s six cherished grandchildren—Ryan, Rowan, Naomi, Skylar, Dylan, and Harper. Alongside numerous friends and family who loved him, Rick’s impact remains imprinted on their lives.
