Richard Arlen Smith Sr.

Richard Arlen “Smitty/Slim” Smith, Sr. born January 30, 1942 passed away January 25, 2011. He is preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Smith; parents, A.B. Smith and Gladys Smith; step-sister, Glena Fae Perry. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna Smith; sons, Richard Arlen Smith, Jr. Jason J. Smith and wife Julie; grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Justin Smith, Courtney Smith, and Jacob Smith; brothers, Bill Smith and wife Gloria, Amos Smith and wife Betty and numerous family members and friends. Richard was a loyal husband, father and friend. He helped all those he could. His hands could build anything if he had the right resources. Richard loved his grandchildren, fishing, race cars and tools of all sorts. Richard worked hard and played hard. He served in the United States Marines, was a long time member of the Masons, president of the little league for 3 years and very involved with his children’s sports teams. He stood tall and was looked up to by all.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, January 28th at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm Saturday, January 29, 2011 Brookside Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
