Richard Douglas Suggs

1925-2017

Richard peacefully passed away on March 8, 2017 in Katy, Texas. He was born in Tatum, Texas to the late Annie Jane Sheffield and William Lee Suggs. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Frances Peacock Suggs, his sister, Virginia Vick and his step-son, Charlie Peacock, who passed away January 25, 2017. Richard is survived by his wife, Bonnie Craig Suggs, his daughters, Leanne Suggs Wells and Deanne Suggs-Hudson and his two step-daughters, Rebecca Peacock Payne and Aleta Peacock and sister, Violet Suggs Harris. In addition, Richard was particularly close to his grandson, Zachary Hudson. He is also survived by his other grandchildren, Greg Payne, Kenny McGinn, Eric Peacock, Kimberly Payne Cunningham, Karina Peacock Craig and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Richard met Frances Emma Miller Peacock in 1957 and they married in 1958. Frances already had three young children from a previous marriage and Richard took on the difficult task of being a step-father. He took on that task with a quiet gentleness and never a complaint. In 1965, Richard and Frances had twin girls. Their hands were full! After all the children were grown, Richard and Frances traveled; cruises, road trips, and flew throughout Europe and China. Frances passed away suddenly in 1997. Fortunately, Richard met and fell in love with Bonnie Marie Craig and they were married in 2000. They were also active in the church and were members of Second Baptist Church.

Richard attended University of Houston and had a short career in radio. He worked as an electrical engineer for KHOU-TV for 35 years and retired in 1990.

Pallbearers will be Greg Payne, Zach Hudson, Eric Peacock, Evan Larson, Johnny Hidalgo and Alex Mejia.
