

Richard Wayne Tye, 70, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2023. He was born in Dallas, Texas on November 8, 1952, to Jack Tye and Donna Tye Gabehart. Rick graduated from Sharpstown High School in 1971 and attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Home of the Ragin’ Cajuns. Rick went on to open his own business, Tye Construction, where he enjoyed years of success.
Rick was a longtime volunteer for the Southwest Rangers Youth Football League where he coached for many years. He spent hours mentoring the young men under his tenure and made a huge impact in local community.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Kathy Tye, in January 2023. Rick and Kathy loved going on cruises with friends, Friday morning breakfast club and spending time together.
Rick was also preceded in death by his parents Jack Tye and Donna Tye Gabehart, sister Deena Tye and brother Jamie Tye.
Rick loved and cherished his family dearly. He is survived by his sister Sandra Frnka, nephew Bryan Frnka, and great nephew Tye Frnka all of Austin, TX, his step-mother, Sandy Tye of Eustace, sister-in-law Pam Kowalik, brother-in-laws Peter and Nicholas Link, Jr of Conroe. Niece Kimberly Moeller and Brian, and their children William and Max, and nephew Tommy Kowalik and Kara, and their children, Keaton, Katie and Tyler.
A graveside service for Rick will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077 followed by a reception at Rick’s home in Sugar Land.
