

Richard Short Willis, III, (Dick), passed away on May 1, 2010. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 14, 1929. Richard attended the University of Houston where he received a BBA degree in finance. He proudly served his country during WWII and Korean War. He was stationed in Japan with the US Air Force and in Germany as 1st Lt. with the US Army. He was a member of the 44th Tank Battalion, 82nd Airborne, Quarter Master Corps and the 6th Calvary. Upon retiring as an officer from the Armed Forces, Richard had a 25 year career in the Credit Reporting Business. He enriched the countless lives of so many family, friends and co-workers. Richard never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard Short Willis II and Genevieve Murphy Willis; sister, Jane Willis Rowland and brother William Edward Willis. Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catherine (Cathy) Clonts Willis; daughters, Sharon Willis Robinson, Deborah Willis Williams and husband George, Rebecca Willis Bono and husband Jerry and Sandra Willis Newberry and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Bryan Bronstad, Hillary Bronstad, A.J. Bono, Nicky Bono, Alex McNees; and multiple nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Carloyn C. Swinnea and husband Steve from Austin, TX.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, May 6th 2010 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 7th, 2010 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
