Richard graduated from Livingston High School. He met Mae in Houston, Texas and the two married on December 14, 1973. Richard had a career in Engineering at Houston Lighting and Power (HL&P) for over 43 years. He worked as a Security Officer for Federal Security (FAA) for 14 years as well. Richard was a devout member of one of the oldest African American masonic organization, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons. He also played semi professional baseball for 2 years. He enjoyed fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, Douglas, Wyatt; mother, Lily Maye Wyatt; brothers, Raymond Wyatt, Fred Wyatt, William Wyatt, James Wyatt and Sister Maggie Stevens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mae Wyatt; son, Christopher Wyatt and wife, Bridget; granddaughters, Haley Wyatt and Hayven Wyatt; brother, Charles Wyatt; sister, Brenda Wyatt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss him tremendously.
A visitation for Richard will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at The Church Without Walls, 5725 Queenston Blvd, Houston, TX 77084. A Homegoing Celebration will take place Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at The Church Without Walls. Richard’s earthly remains will be laid to rest at Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are John Harper, Melvin Perry, Clarence Jenkins, James Thibeaux, and Richard Standifer.
The family of Richard Earl Wyatt would like to firstly thank God for the time we were blessed with Richard. We want to express our deepest and sincere appreciation to all family and friends for you kind expression of love and compassion that you have shown during this difficult time.
