

He died peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
After graduating from high school, he, like others from rural communities, left the family farm and came to Houston, Texas. It was in Houston where he met the love of his life, Clara Kubeczka, and they were married on Sept 2, 1950. After marriage, he proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Upon being honorably discharged, he and Clara settled in Houston and became the proud parents of four children. Richard was employed by General Portland Cement and retired as Distribution Terminal Manager in 1989. He was an active parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church, and served on his neighborhood's Civic Association.
He was a devoted family man. Camping trips, fishing trips, and road trips in the '62 station wagon are examples of the memories he created for his family, He loved hosting gatherings for family and friends, and took great pride in preparing feasts for all, with bountiful fruits of his garden. He loved nature and created beautiful drawings and wood carvings.
Although he left the family farm in Bremond as a young man, it remains in the family and has given the family years of happy memories. He was honored on " Yanowski Day" in Bremond.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Clara, his siblings Theodore Yanowski and Albina Jones Yanowski, and nephew Alan Kent. He is survived by his children Daniel Yanowski of Houston, Dennis Yanowski (Camille) of Boerne, TX, Brenda Yanowski of Houston and Kathy Hetmaniak (Chris) of Houston. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Yanowski Kent of Dallas, TX, his grandchildren Debbie Yanowski, John Hetmaniak, and Klaire Hetmaniak, all of Houston, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Faith and family defined Richard Yanowski. His values and traditions live on through his family. He was adored by so many and will be greatly missed.
The family offers their sincere gratitude to all who loved and helped Richard, including Flo and Ezequiel Camacho, Gina and Pedro Sepulveda, Andy & Josephine Lopez, Fanny Dobbins, Maddie, his caregivers at Vosswood Nursing Center, and Vantage Hospice.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Yanowski, Bill Jones, Donald Jones, John Hetmaniak, Paul Marek, Darrell Little, Greg Little, and Jonathan Jones.
