Robbie Hubbard DeHay passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2026, at the age of 85. Robbie was born on September 8, 1940, in Monahans, Texas, to Ted and Dora Hubbard. At an early age, her family moved to Fort Worth, where she grew up and later graduated from Paschal High School. During her school years, Robbie was a cheerleader and a debutante, traits that foreshadowed her lifelong spirit of encouragement, grace, and friendship.
She attended Texas Tech University, where she met the love of her life, Lawrence Monroe DeHay Jr. The two were married on December 30, 1961, beginning a beautiful life together. Robbie embraced her greatest and most cherished role as a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. She welcomed her first daughter, Danice, in 1965, and in 1969 the family moved to Houston, which became their permanent home. Their second daughter, Laura, was born in 1970.
Robbie made sure her home was a happy one—warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter. Everyone was always welcome. She had a remarkable gift for making wonderful friends in every group she was part of, and those friendships often lasted a lifetime.
She was deeply involved in her community, serving as a Brownie leader, swim coach, and tennis player at SORA. The friends she made at SORA became lifelong friends, a testament to Robbie’s warmth and loyalty. Robbie and Larry were longtime members of Raveneaux Country Club, where she was an avid golfer and actively involved in the Ladies Golf Association. Golf remained one of her great joys, and she continued playing until the time of her passing. She was also involved with the Houston Junior Women’s League.
Robbie remained close to her Texas Tech Tri Delta sisters, maintaining friendships and staying in touch throughout the years.
For many years, Robbie worked at Memorial Middle School, where she formed dear friendships that became like family. That close-knit group affectionately called themselves “The Party Pants” and shared countless joyful gatherings over the years.
Robbie was the greatest cheerleader to all who knew her. If you knew Robbie, you were her friend for life. She found immense joy in her family and treasured time spent together, especially their annual summer trips to the beach in Galveston—a place she dearly loved.
Robbie is survived by her beloved daughters, Danice (DeHay) and Ben Boeker, and Laura (DeHay) and Shawn Mize; her grandchildren, Christopher Boeker, Amy (Rhye) Moschak, Lawrence Mize (McKenna), Brandt Mize and his fiancée Nina, and Markie Mize; her cherished great-granddaughter, Kennedy Moschak; and her sisters-in-law, Virginia Patton and Kay Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lawrence Monroe DeHay Jr.; her infant son, James Vernon DeHay; her parents, Ted and Dora Hubbard; and her brother, Kenneth Hubbard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Camp Hope.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas, 77077, on January 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Visitation will follow at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
