Bob was born on May 3, 1948, in Houston, Texas, to Dr. Edward B. Adams and Juanita Adams. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1967 and went on to attend electrical training school, where he finished at the top of his class.
Bob began his career with Fisk Electric Company, where he worked through the 1970s and early 1980s. In June 1983, he accepted a full time position with Schlumberger (SLB) in Rosharon as Chief Plant Electrical Maintainer. Sixteen years later, he became Facilities Manager for the Sugar Land campus, and in 2003 he was promoted to Houston Area Facilities Manager, overseeing seven locations until his stroke in July 2008. Each year, his department took part in many community and charitable efforts, including Habitat for Humanity and the Brazoria County Fair, where they helped provide scholarships for FFA students.
Bob was a longstanding member of Wilcrest Baptist Church, where he served as a Yokefellow and taught Sunday School to both adults and youth.
Bob loved boats and spending time on the water. From childhood into later life, his weekends were often spent at Lake Livingston, Clear Lake, or Galveston. Many of those weekends found Bob and his father working on his father’s 45 foot sailboat in Kemah. Both inherited their love of the water from Bob’s grandfather, who rode out the Galveston Storm of 1900 tied to the mast of his ship. Bob also enjoyed golf and played in many company golf tournaments. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the Houston Astros and Texas A&M football and baseball, going to the movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Edward B. Adams and Juanita Adams.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Judy Adams; his daughters, Stacy Guerra and husband Mike, and Kim Wienken and husband Charles; his grandchildren, Cameron Guerra and wife Emily, Nicole Guerra, and Kaitlyn Wienken; his great grandchildren, Georgia and Hallie Guerra; his sister, Carol Matthews; his nephews, Travis, Jason, and Michael Matthews; and many other nieces and nephews.
We are grateful for the time God blessed us with Bob and find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Though we will miss him dearly, we look forward to the day we will all be reunited in His presence.
