Robert Lee Allen Sr.

Robert Lee Allen Sr was the third child born to Ruby and Ellen Allen, in Benchley, Texas on September 6, 1934.

He was raised on a farm in a God fearing home and received his education through the Bryan Independent School system where he attended E. A. Kemp High School.

Robert accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He was blessed with a musical talent of playing guitar which he utilized in the church. At the age of 18 he moved to Houston and continued his service to God at the 34th Temple Church of God in Christ. His favorite song was “Use my Lord in your Service”.

On October 8, 1955 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Verdia Stewart. To this union 4 children were born Gwendolyn Jordon (Donald), Robert Allen Jr. (Dorothy), Ellen Newton (Milton) and Terry Allen. He was a loving father to his children and would go on to be a father figure to his grand children and great grandchildren.

He leaves behind 7 grandchildren Shermika Paulk, Terrence Allen Jr., Calvin Allen, Jackie Paulk, Sharda Allen, Christopher Jordon and Trevion Allen. Also 5 great grand children Amare Jenkins, Devonte Wyatt- Paulk, Kyah Thompson, Jaslinn Paulk and Josiah Williams-Paulk.

Preceded in death by his parents , Ruby and Ellen Allen, his brother Ruby Lee Allen Jr. Sisters Carolyn Presley, Annie Boyd and Lucille Lane. His great grandson Josiah Williams- Paulk.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 69 years, Verdia Allen. Along with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His brother, W. H. Allen (Deborah) from Chicago, IL., Ruby Jewell Hammonds (Rozelle), Sylvia Bea Pouncy (Willie) and Bobbie Lee (Jim).

A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, followed by a funeral service from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
