Born in Borger, Texas, to Hester Ray and Rosalyn Mitchell Bishop, Bob grew up in Houston, graduating from Memorial High School before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston. He went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a petroleum process engineer, earning the respect of colleagues for his technical expertise, sharp mind, and dedicated mentorship of young engineers.
A lifelong Presbyterian, Bob lived his faith through his deep devotion to his family and community. Known for his outgoing nature, warm sense of humor, and ability to connect with anyone, he married his beloved wife, Kathie, 57 years ago, anchoring their home with laughter, generosity, and steadfast love. Beyond his family and faith, Bob was a die-hard University of Houston Cougar fan who proudly wore Cougar Red and cheered on UH athletics throughout his life.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathie Kohlmaier Bishop; daughter Marianne Turner (Brett); son Andy Bishop; grandchildren Jon Steininger-Forbes (Courtney), Robin Turner, Rebecca Bishop, and Kaila Bishop; and sisters Julie Schroeder (Ron) and Mary Lynne Tiner, alongside many beloved nieces and nephews.
