Robert “ Bob” Willis Coker, 81, of Houston, passed away December 30th, 2019. He was born at home in Portland, Texas on July 11th, 1938 to Tony Clark Coker and Vera Louise Hune. He was married to Linda Susan Coker for 43 years. Bob graduated High School in Taft, Texas and from there he went to Texas A&M for 2 years where he was a member of the Corp and played in the marching band. Bob later transferred to UCC and then to Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a degree in Music.
Bob was a teacher for a year in west Texas, but his love for computers led him to a career with Houston Lighting & Power for over 20 years. He later flourished in the role of systems engineer with StorageTek for many years, designing data storage solutions for many places, including Texas A&M and Chevron. StorageTek was acquired by Sun MicroSystems and Bob remained there until his retirement.
Bob loved so many things…music, dancing, reading, traveling, fishing, golfing, gardening, cooking, camping, and being around the water. But what he loved most of all was his family and spending time with them, especially sharing the things he loved with his loved ones.
