

Robert Stanley “Stan” Corbitt passed away January 14, 2025, at the age of 80. He was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas. Stan was born to the late W.M. “Jim” Corbitt and Jewel VanHoose Corbitt on July 20,1944, in Ashland, Kentucky.
Stan graduated from Ashland High School in 1962. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1967 and, later, a Master’s of Economics from Marshall University.
Stan started his career as an Engineering co-op student at International Nickel Co. in Huntington, West Virginia, and moved to Ashland Oil after graduating from Virginia Tech. Over the next few years, Stan was working as a Process Engineer for Ashland Oil and doing very well. He was educated, intelligent, and seeking advancement. Although he was on a fast track at Ashland Oil, he knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur and direct his own career. Stan resigned from his job, moved to Houston, started several of his own companies and became very successful in the oil industry.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. James Corbitt and a sister, Carolyn Corbitt Hay. In his final years, he was cared for by his devoted wife and special in-home caregivers Gary Warren and Toni Cambre. Stan is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Lisa” Lovett Corbitt, daughter Cynthia Corbitt (Guillermo Rougier), brother Stephen Corbitt (Elaine) and a multitude of extended family and friends.
A memorial service is to be conducted at a later date.
