Robert was born October 28, 1931 in Brooklyn New York to Norwegian Natives Olav and Hjordis Langeland. He was a volunteer US Marine in the Korean War 1951-1954. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in the action. He was a New York City union carpenter and owner of a New York City general contracting company.
Robert is survived by his wife Lorraine, son Robert Brian, granddaughter Stephanie, son Richard Brett, daughter-in-law Christine, granddaughter Kellie, and brother Norman.
Robert had a passion for motorcycles, boating, fishing and a love for his cats. His favorite name was being called poppy by his granddaughters. He was most proud of his Granddaughter Stephanie who graduated from Columbia with a masters degree and granddaughter Kellie current freshman at Texas Tech University.
