

Robert graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He faithfully served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He worked for Texaco, Inc. for 33 years. Mr. Metzler was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Downtown Houston, and the Adelphi Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, June and Adele; his brothers, Albert Earl, Leon and Melborne; and a nephew, Ronnie Richards. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty; his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lee Murr; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 27th of December, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 28th of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Rev. Charles H. Thompson, Associate Pastor, and Allen Houk, are to officiate.
The entombment is to follow, via escorted cortege, in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
