1923-2016
Robert Gail Miller, 92, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2016. He was born to Thomas Longino and Hazel Gene Miller on November 26, 1923 in Hondo Texas. Robert served in the United States Marines during World War II, reaching the rank of sergeant. He was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation with 2 stars, an Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 3 stars, an American Area Medal and a Victory Medal for his service at Guadalcanal, Saipan, Marshall Islands and Iwo Jima. Robert graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors in History and a Master’s in Education. He taught in the Houston Independent School District for 39 years, at Deady and Marshall Middle Schools. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years the former Sandra Anita Gilliland of Eps, Louisiana. He leaves behind two daughters: Cynthia Gail Miller and Catherine Gaye Miller of Houston, Texas.
