I had the pleasure of meeting "Pops" when Trina invited me to her home when we were teenagers.  Both her parents were very accepting and that always meant a lot to me.  I don't feel at ease easily.   He had a nickname for me, Peanut.  Honestly I had forgotten about it till he actually recently reminded me. 
I felt like that teenager he had met so long ago.   Through the years I was always greeted with a smile and a welcoming hug from Pops.  He never changed, always willing to listen to anything you wanted to share and ready for a laugh or to crack a joke.  Trina has shared with me so many stories about her hero.  I have always loved listening to them.  Their bond was absolute and I had always wished i had a similar bond with my father.   Pops was a great man, I never saw him in a bad mood, quite the opposite and always genuinely happy to see you.  I wish I had more personal memories to share but I have enough to know he was great human being, he was loving, kind and will be sorely missed.  
We love you Pops!
