

Robert Brown Rector (92) of Houston Texas passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014. Bob was born in Lott Texas, April 5, 1922 to David B Rector and Trebble Louis Rector, both preceded him in death. Bob was also the youngest of nine children, also preceding him in death.
An active member of the Air Force, serving in the pacific theater during World War II. Bob graduated from Baylor University in 1949, then went on to work for Humble/Exxon Oil for 33 years, retiring as a Financial Advisor in the Controllers Department. Longtime active members of Houston’s Second Baptist Church, Bob was honored as a Deacon Emeritus in 2002.
He married July 6, 1943 to Dorothy Bagley Rector. They were happily devoted to one another for 72 years. He is preceded in death by his son Robert Allen Rector and great-grandson Chase Edward Batchelor, and survived by his loving wife Dorothy, and his daughter, Melva Louis Taylor of Atascocita TX.
Bob enjoyed a growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With grandsons Robert Thomas Rutherford and David Michael Rutherford of Houston TX, grandson Robert Glen Rector and his fiancée Eva Burleson of Rosenberg TX, and granddaughter Amy Rector Batchelor of West Columbia TX. With great-grandchildren including Tanner Batchelor, Lane Batchelor, Mason Batchelor, Brennan Batchelor, Wyatt Rector, Makenzie Burleson, Colton Burleson, and a great-great-grandaughter, Blakely Batchelor.
Bob and Dorothy shared a full life of travel, fellowship, and family. Celebrating many years together, that started with Dorothy noticing Bob in a High School yearbook picture. After a friend introduced the couple, Dorothy enjoyed sharing the story that ‘she picked Bob out of a catalog’.
Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, December 11th, with reception immediately following at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home 281.497.2330
