

Bob attended Milby High School, followed by a brief stint at the University of Houston. He then served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force as a Systems Mechanic stationed in Colorado. Post-military service, Bob began his career at Dresser Rand before transitioning to a role with Houston ISD as an Energy Conservation Specialist, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement in 2000.
Bob met and married his beloved, Glenda Shumaker, after a blind date arranged by his sister.Their union blessed them with a daughter, Carrie, in 1973. In his leisure moments, Bob found joy in working on cars, particularly his cherished collection of Corvairs. His passion for these cars led him to become an active member of the Corvair Club of Houston. Bob was also an independent dealer for Amsoil. He loved to talk about their products.
Bob's devotion extended beyond his hobbies; he was deeply committed to his faith community, serving as a deacon at Second Baptist Church. Upon receiving the news of the arrival of his first grandson, Weston, Bob retired to fully jump into being a "Pa Pa". Over the following seven years, he welcomed two more grandsons, Mason and Bryce. Bob and Glenda cherished every moment spent cheering on their grandsons at football and baseball games, showing up as BIG family love and support.
Bob is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Shumaker Willhelm, his mother Thelma Wells Willhelm, his father Leonard Edgar Willhelm, and his sister Bertha Levell. His legacy of love and faith will continue through his daughter, Carrie Muchaw, her husband, Ben, and his three grandsons, Weston, Mason, and Bryce.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, followed by a committal service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
