Robert Blythe Wright, Jr, age 66 ½, passed away in Houston, Texas on December 15, 2013. His heart of gold finally gave out. A resident of Houston since 1953, Bob was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1947, in Oklahoma City to parents Robert Blythe Wright, Sr. and Lois Irene Langwell Wright, both now deceased.
A graduate of Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Bob served in the US Navy from 1967 to his Honorable Discharge in 1973. This included a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969-1970, aboard vessel YRBM-20 (a.k.a. Delta Hilton) on the Mekong River Delta as part of the so-called Brown Water Navy, which repaired and resupplied river patrol boats. Bob was a proud member of the American Legion Post #0490, at South Houston (Ellington) since 1998. Bob worked for 35 years as a heavy construction equipment financing sales representative, arranging financing for contractors.
Bob is survived by son, Robert (Robby) Wright III; brother, James M. Wright and wife Teresa Doyle and nieces, Rachael and Rebecca Wright.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer (at Dairy Ashford), with cremation and burial in the family’s plot.
