Mr. Page composed his own obituary and it reads as follows:
“Since I'm near the end of the line, I decided to write my own obituary. I was born in New York City on the 3rd of May 1936, to Holt Wilson Page and Margaret Reick Page. My father's family is from Virginia. My great-great (x6) grandfather was Colonel John Page who helped to (establish) Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary. My maternal grandfather was William C. Reick, a lifelong newspaper journalist, editor and president for the New York Herald and one-time owner of the New York Sun. I was educated at The Haverford School, The Fessenden School, The Hill School and The University of the South.
“I came to Houston in 1957 and worked for South Main State Bank for several years before joining Southern National Bank until 1972. Then with the help of Jim Pitts, we opened The Empty Vase of Houston.
“One of my great joys was traveling, especially on cruise ships, and I did a lot of it. My other great joy was my dogs. Many will remember Plantagenet, my English Bulldog that was always with me at The Empty Vase. And later my English Bulldogs, Heathrow and Gatwick at the store.
“I now leave my partner of 24 years Bobby Halcomb, and our dogs Manny and Millie.”
A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 15th of July, in the sanctuary of Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Ave in Houston.
