He was the husband of Barbara Scarbrough (deceased) and son of William and Clara May
Scarbrough (deceased). Rodney lived a full and accomplished life of 93 years. He served his country bravely and honorably in the US Navy from July 1946 to October 1949. He achieved the rate of E3 and earned the Good Conduct, WW2 Victory, and the American Area Campaign medals. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on October 18, 1949 – one day before his 21st birthday.
Rodney is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Scarbrough, his daughter, Lana Frois, his son Stephen Scarbrough, his brother William Scarbrough, and his sister Betty Chancy. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Collins and her husband Mark, Gina Dickinson and her husband David, Angela Scarbrough, Amy Christensen and her husband Bob; and his son David Scarbrough and his wife Mary, and Stephen’s wife Linda. Rodney is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Sara Rush, Tara Scarbrough, Shane Smith, Christopher Collins, Dustin Collins, Matthew Collins, Rodney Franklin Scarbrough II, Joshua Dickinson, Ben Hurbrough, and Sam Hurbrough; as wells as 9 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Waylon, Carson, Hudson, Bryson, Boston, Olivia, Jack, and Charley Rose.
One of his great passions was teaching the game of golf to young and old alike. He was a mentor to many.
For that reason, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), a military based charity run by the PGA of America and its affiliates. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.
