Rodney Taplin was born to the union of Robert and Patsy Eugene (deceased) in Frankfurt, Kentucky. He attended M. C. Williams High School, graduating in 1979. After graduation, Rodney served in the United States Army. Rodney is survived by children: Toshira Davis and Rodney D. Taplin, Jr. (their mother Faye Davis); daughter Michelle Pittman; grandsons: Joshua Jones and Javien Carter; Life partner: Lisa Scott; brothers: Jeffery Murphy and Robert L. Murphy (Karen); sisters: Denitra Ealy (Walter), Harvey Hill (Chris) of Glendora, California, Georgia Lathan (Joel), Beth Eugene, Hazel Eugene, Angelia Scott, Linda Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Valencia Kendricks of San Antonio, Texas and Mary Ann Moore of Killeen, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
