Roland Steve Musquiz fell asleep in death on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the age of 53. He was born on December 18, 1964 in Houston, Texas to Eva Villareal Musquiz and Raul Garza Musquiz Sr. He was the youngest of eight children and lived in Houston, Texas.

Steve was an incredibly talented artist and designer whose work has been featured in magazines and many galleries. He was one of the fortunate few to make an enviable living as an artist. He owned a successful design firm for many years. His motto was “expect the unexpected.” His love of art began at an early age. He turned his parents’ garage into his painting studio where he could be found working into the wee hours of the morning. Among his many passions was a love for animals, as his family and friends well know. He was a very social and friendly person. Like both of his parents, Steve never met a stranger. He brightened every room he entered with his smile, laugh and love for others. His fun loving and passionate nature is a legacy that will be remembered.

Steve is survived by his companion, William R. Hogue; his brother Raul (Roy) Garza Musquiz, Jr.; his sisters, Linda Armenta, Blanca Estella Musquiz Jimenez, Gloria Barnett, Laura Musquiz, Alice Dominguez, Monica O’Connor; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved animals.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

Steve was loved by many and will be missed by a host of other family members and friends.
