

Rollie graduated from Birmingham HS in Birmingham, MI in 1949, and attended University of Wisconsin on a ROTC and athletic scholarship, graduating in 1953.
Rollie served in Korea as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Upon discharge, he worked for GM as a district manager in Dayton, OH. Wanting to enter the retail side of the car business, he became General Manager for a Dayton, OH Cadillac dealer.
An opportunity to become a partner at Highams Cadillac in Houston arose in 1966 and started a 44-year career in the retail car business.
Rollie was appointed to the board of the Houston Automobile Dealers’ Association and served as its president. Other board memberships included the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Greater Houston YMCA, and Channel 8.
During his 94 years, Rollie was a fan of all Houston sports and enjoyed flying, golf, running, fly fishing, and HAM radio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles English and Ruth Oscar, and wife, Julie H. McGinnis.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cochran McGinnis, sister, Patricia Frankel, daughter, Kerry McGinnis Davis (Barry Davis), son, Kevin McGinnis (Shari Smallwood), three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Galleria, Quantum Hospice Care, and Doctors Choice Health Care for the kindness and care they provided.
Friends are cordially invited to a reception with the family in honor of Rollie’s life from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 14th of August, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
