I met Rollie through a mentorship program while incarcerated in 2011.  He would come up on Tuesday nights and we would have a one-on-one Bible study.  He convinced me to stay in Houston, when I was released from prison where I knew nobody. I was originally from the Dallas area. When I was released; he picked me up with two sets of clothes. Took me to the nicest restaurant I have ever been to, Carrabba’s. We sat there and talked. He told me that I wasn't going to lean on him; it was time to grow up and be a man. He continued to mentor me and met with me once a month. After Jesus Christ he was the most influential man in my life.  Through him I learned what it was to be a man. In 2016, one of the greatest honors of my life was when Rollie accepted to be the best man at my wedding in Donna, Texas. My last visit with Rollie, my wife and I had the privilege of treating him out to Carrabba’s. Because of Rollie my life took a turn for the best. Thank you, my friend you will truly be missed.  Our deepest sympathy for his family.

I became friends with Rollie through serving on the HADA Board at the same time. I followed him as Chairman of HADA in 1986. I learned how to lead the organization by watching Rollie and listening to him. He was a valuable mentor in that role. Also enjoyed seeing him on occasion in Colorado over the years after his retirement. Sincere condolences to his children and entire family.

One of my more vivid memories of Rollie was him landing his bi-plane on the hillside at our farm in Brenham during a Whitehall Breakfast Club party in the 80's.  He came in to the party , had some food , said hello , and took of in his plane again.  He was quite the hit....

I met Rollie through my husband Louis'  involvement in the WhiteHall Breakfast Club.  Rollie was tall, good looking, well dressed always, and a stylish man.  His demeanor was quite pleasing,  interesting, and often times witty.  It was a pleasure for me to have known him these last 25 years...truly a pleasure.

So sorry to learn of Rollie’s passing.  He and his wife, Julie, were both wonderful friends.  My best to Kevin and the family.

We lost a giant in the Houston automobile business with the passing of Rollie McGinnis.  I knew Rollie from his days as the owner of the McGinnis Cadillac dealership on the Katy Freeway and I worked closely with him in the Silver Fox Advisory organization. Rollie always had great ideas and suggestions. I would try and sit next to him and Jay Marks at our breakfast meetings and Lunch & Learn events to hear their stories and gain some great business insight and wisdom. Rollie you will be missed by many, and you were loved by all. My sincere condolences to the McGinnis family.

As a second cousin I’ve known Rollie almost my whole life. He’s been a major supporter of the McGinnis family attending family reunions for decades. I was privileged to get to know him as a close friend when he bought a sail boat a few years ago and ask me to go sailing. We had great fun and I cherish my time with him.

Rollie was a true friend and also an audit and tax client for forty plus years  and our friendship always came first. He listened to what you would tell him and if he didn't agree he would speak his piece and make you justify the position on what he was being told. The best time will Rollie was each year when the business part of our relationship was over, out to Pine Forrest Country Club we would go, eat great food and drink a little muscle relaxant and the score could go the other way. We were out there to have fun and the balls were always in the short gras, we were both great with the foot wedge. May God Bless his sole and give comfort to those left behind.

Over the many years that I knew Rollie and enjoyed his friendship, I found him to be an eternal optimist. He felt that people are more good than bad and more honest than dishonest. He helped so many people who just needed encouragement or someone to give them a leg up. He was known as an honest businessman and was respected by his peers as well as employees and friends. Rollie personifies Proverbs 22:1, which says, “A good name is more desirable than great riches, and to be esteemed is better than silver and gold”. If anyone ever had a good name it is Rollie McGinnis. The good Lord only made a few men like him. I am so blessed to have known him. His passing leaves a void for everyone who loved him. I hope that the good memories, of that dear man, carry his family  through this sad time.

What a great guy! Rollie was a kind and generous friend to me and countless others. He was always available to help or to have some fun. Lots of good times in Rollie’s company, memories I cherish.
