Romeo Vinson, 76, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 after battling Mesothelioma Cancer. Romeo was born in Hinigaran Negros Occidental, Philippines on February 9, 1948 to Mr. Ramon Maalat and Ms. Rosa Vinson, who both sadly passed away when he was a very young child. Romeo was raised by his Tia Guadalupe (Lola Upeng) Ner and his two surviving sisters Ms. Ely Maalat and Mrs. Vilma Mendoza. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carmen and their three sons Jansen, Melvin, and Christopher along with their significant other Romelly, Janice, and Ligia.
Romeo especially loved his grandchildren Jordan, Jessica, Ammie, Megan, Javin, Mavee, Tatianna, Bianna and his great-grandchildren Addison, Penelope, and Easton.
Whether you knew Romeo as Romy, Mr. V., Bucay, Dad or Umpy, everyone knew him to be loving, kind, caring, thoughtful, patient and always funny. He was the jokester of the family but most importantly, the greatest Dad and husband in the world.
Romy taught his sons to be kind and give to others, even when they didn't have much growing up. He worked hard so that they never felt without, and was everything to his wife. He was a handyman, artist, comedian, a great cook, a lover not a fighter, and a world traveler. His favorite hobby was betting at the horse race track and he loved to share his winnings with family and friends. We will always remember him for his welcoming smile, kind heart, the most generous with his love & care, and his funny jokes. And we will never forget his "minute to win it" games during parties. We dearly miss you and love you so much!
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 13, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the time of prayer service at 1:30pm at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 Bellaire Blvd. Houston, TX 77083.
