“Ron” was born December 15, 1943 in Ft Lauderdale, FLa., to father Fred R. Ashby and mother June Ashby who predeceased him.
Ron is survived by his wife of 24 years, Margie Dianne Ashby, his daughters Shannon D. Hayward, Laura Pyle Williams and husband Corky, Lisa Cooksey and husband Jay; son Larry Shane Ashby, step sons Billy Hlavinka, Matt Hlavinka and wife Jessica. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy with honorable discharge on January 13, 1969. He also achieved the rank of Sergeant Major in recognition of 23 years in the Armed Forces of the United States, including 17 years of service in the National Guard.
Ron had a long engineering career with CenturyLink Telecommunications Co. which spanned more than 40 years and he always enjoyed getting together with his longtime friends and co-workers after his retirement.
He was a force for good in this world with his friendly approach to others even to strangers, no matter the situation.
Ron was a wonderful and devoted “dog dad” to Brandy, Angel, Buffy, Misty and Lola. Although Lola remains here with Margie, Ron is surely taking long walks with and surrounded by our pomeranians, breathing beautiful fresh air in heaven.
Most of all Ron loved his family and strived to instill his strong values. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Today, we honor, respect, and remember a good man who touched and enriched all of our lives in so many different ways.
