Born July 29, 1946 in El Campo, TX, son of James Lloyd DeFoor and Velma (Wyer) DeFoor. He was proud to be a native Texan.
Graduated from Ganado High School (Ganado, TX) in 1964.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965-1968, as a specialist 5th Class, receiving a National Defense Award.
In 1968 Ron moved to Houston, TX where he had a long career in telecommunications, retiring from Southwestern Bell and Telecordia Technologies. In July 1975, he contributed to the support of the Apollo – Soyuz Mission (NASA).
After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends – traveling, fishing and dining out.
He was a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church where he met and married his wife Kay Wood in 1987.
His deep love for God, family, and country led him to volunteer as chaplain and honor guard member for the American Legion Post 164 in Katy, TX. Always excited to hear stories told by other veteran’s, he formed an active Veteran’s Club at Watercrest of Katy Senior Living.
Ron is survived by his wife Kay with whom he shared love and a God-centered marriage for 33 years. He is survived by three daughters: Heather Haug (Greg), Mychelle DeFoor, and Shauna Schroeder. He was a loving Paw-Paw to his granddaughter Emma Haug. Being a father and grandfather was a great joy for both he and the girls.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Patrick DeFoor. Surviving is his sister-in-law (“sis”) Nancy DeFoor and nephew Jim DeFoor and family.
