

Ronald Anthony Guidry, age 72, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 9, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He was born on April 19, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. His family moved to Kaplan, LA where he worked in his father’s sheet metal shop through high school. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii through 1964. He then moved to Houston, attended Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1970. He owned Guidry Mobile Gas Station, at the corner of Hammerly and Gessner, until he retired in 1995.
Ron was an active and faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Fr. Wayne Elkins # 12837 and a member of St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, camp and play golf. Fun loving, always joking, sentimental and traditional is how you would describe Ron. He was a strong man and always fought hard through his illnesses. One of his most cherished roles in life was that of Papa and Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilby and Juanita Guidry and his first wife and mother of his children, Patsy Payne Guidry who he was married to for 24 years and passed away in 1990.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 18 years, Darlene Shander Guidry, sons Jarrett Anthony and wife Anna and Ronald Bradford and wife Janet, stepson Donald Stephen Smith and wife Jennifer, stepdaughter Robin Lynn Sample and husband David, grandsons Pierson Vaughn, Everett Kingsley, Baby Guidry (due in November), Gage Stephen and Brenden Tyler, and sisters Geraldine Guidry Edmonson and Sharon Guidry Hebert.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77024. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors. A private burial will follow.
