

Ronald was born on December 26, 1955, in Woodville, Texas to mother Catherine Jernigan and father R.A. Jernigan. He graduated from Kirby High School in Woodville and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1978. He enjoyed a successful career with Houston Lighting and Power, Reliant Energy, and NRG Energy. As a consulting engineer, he held the respected Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
He had a deep passion for magic; he was a dedicated member of the Houston Association of Magicians, where he was a Past-President and Sergeant-at-Arms, as well as a member of the Society of American Magicians. He generously spent his time performing for different organizations and groups throughout his life, including Texas Children's Hospital. Ronald also enjoyed dancing, playing in a bluegrass band, and exploring new places through travel.
Ronald was a kind, generous, and thoughtful man who touched the lives of many. He was always eager to help; often put the needs of others above his own. His ability to solve problems was admired by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, R.A. Jernigan and Catherine Jernigan.
He is survived by his sons, Reid and Zachary Jernigan; his daughter-in-law, Bea Jernigan; his fiance, Norma "Millie" Menchaca; and his sister, Cathy Young.
A Memorial Visitation for Ronald will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston Association of Magicians (HAOM) in his memory.
