Ronald Lerner

He graduated from El Paso High School in 1976, where he participated in many organizations, not to mention, his true love for Scouting. Ron continued his education and acquired his Bachelor degree from TAMU, Masters Science in Engineering from University of Texas, and his Doctoral Degree from Touro University.

He was a devoted father giving of his time to the cub scouts, boy scouts, swim team, golfing, and baseball. Not only did he give time to his family, he dedicated himself to many organizations as a volunteer to Boy Scouts, Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation, Texas A&M Association of Former Students, Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, University of Texas at Austin Alumni, and American Radio Relay League. His professional career included Helen of Troy, Texas Instruments, Emerson, Southwire, Texas A&M University and Harris County.

Ron loved life and everything about it. His love for outdoors was immeasurable and enjoyed the many outdoor trips to national parks with Paula and Chris to Colorado, California, Arizona, North & South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, Alaska, and Caribbean.

He also took many global trips to India, Germany, Japan, China, France, Sweden, Finland, Bulgaria, England, Switzerland, and Norway.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Alan Lerner, step-mother Dorothy Lerner. He is survived by his wife, Paula Maltba Lerner of 34 years and his son, Chris Maltba of Houston, Texas. Also, his twin brother, Mark Edward Lerner and his wife, Judi of Dallas, Texas; his younger brother, Kenneth Lerner and his wife, Nancy of Madison, Wisconsin. Ronald’s brother -in- law David Fanguy and his wife, Nena. He was also blessed to have many aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins that he cherished.

The Road Not Taken

A graveside service for the family will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas In of lieu of customary remembrances for those so desiring, contributions in memory of Ronald may be made online through Texas A&M Foundation Order of Service

Chris and I would like to thank Houston Hospice, especially to the loving and wonderful caregivers that made Ron’s last few months so comfortable. Additional and special thanks to his wonderful coworkers and executive leadership team at Harris County Engineering Department, and family and friends that continued to offer unwavering support during this entire time.
